Jasmine Wells
APPRENTICE CARPENTER
Jasmine came to Lewis Creek with experience in outdoor education and behavioral health after receiving a degree in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Ecology and Conservation Science from Humboldt State University in Northern California. She has been a ropes course and zip lining guide, ski and snowboard instructor, ski school programs coordinator, wilderness therapy guide, and a physical education teacher.
What drew Jasmine to join the LCB team was her career change as a woman in the trades, seeing many other women listed on the Lewis Creek team page, she was able to visualize herself amongst the crew! She also realized that Lewis Creek shares her same values in construction’s environmental impact and wanting to create a more sustainable, environmentally friendly way of building. She also hopes to build her own home one day!
Jasmine is originally from Southern California and moved to Vermont as an “intentional accident.” She found herself a seasonal job in Vermont while stuck in Upstate New York while trying to move back to Wyoming, but ended up staying for the beautiful landscape, ski slopes, maple creemees, and the wonderful communities of the down-to-earth folks. She now lives with her partner Kyle, her dog Tamarac, and cat Jack! Jasmine loves to be outside, reading, cooking up new recipes, taking film photos, hanging out with loved ones, learning a new skill, getting lost in thrift stores, and watching woodworking and tiny home videos on YouTube.
Did you know?
Jasmine has always wanted to learn how to sew or knit, specifically making clothing from upcycled materials.
If Jasmine could have any superpower, it would a tie between healing powers (because pain and suffering sucks) or teleportation (because the world is so big and so worth traveling)
Jasmine’s favorite line from a poem is “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” -- Mary Oliver
